Smoking nude is naughty!
In this ad for Galeries Lafayette Maison, Jean-Paul Goude shows a typical Parisienne unwinding after a hard day shopping for home furnishings. The Galeries Lafayette honchos loved the drawing, and when JPG showed them the finished photo, they happily gave it the A-OK! Alas, the Paris Transport Authority found the image too suggestive for a Metrobus ad (finding the nudity, coupled with the smoke coming out of the roof-hat, too racy). JPG later gave his shopper a varnished Lycra catsuit to wear so she would conform better to the Metrobus propriety code. But the original image still works for me! No smoking in public? No sexy ads in the subway? Soon we’ll be picking up dog doo-doo and helping tourists find their way to the Louvre! Marc Cosnard des Closets
